In all cases, they understand that their support for us will not influence our choice of stories and how we cover issues. Even so, when articles quote or reference funders, we identify them as such in the story.

Our business model calls for us to earn revenue. We do this through a variety of vehicles which could include: publishing ads, sponsored content, organizing events, and offering premium services such as subscriptions and reports. We clearly distinguish advertising and sponsored articles from journalistic copy, in line with best practices in publishing and journalism.

EdSurge’s journalists adhere to a strict conflict-of-interest policy on personal financial activity. Our journalists do not create advertising content or accept gifts that might influence their coverage. Our journalists do not accept any expense reimbursement or junkets from vendor-sponsored groups. Our staff attend conferences on the same terms that are usually offered to the media, such as a discounted rate or a free press pass.
